This image deals with themes of love, pain, jealousy and freedom - the strange games our hearts can play with our heads and vice-versa.
In this piece I am trying to represent an inner emotional state in more concrete, physical terms.
I wanted to create an intriguing image that drew the viewer in and encouraged them to wonder about the story being told.
The title is taken from a poem by William Blake.

This was conceived as a representation of one of those moments in a relationship when there just doesn't seem to be any way forward, any hope. After the argument is spent and you feel imprisoned in your own mind, mute and impotent but at the same time unwilling - or perhaps scared - to let it go.

This is an attempt to deal with themes of jealousy, love, pain and freedom - and the strange games our hearts can play with our heads and vice-versa.

It was originally conceived to be part of a triptych, with this being just one perspective.
